College can be expensive, with an average of $50-80 for application fees in Colorado. Applying to multiple colleges can cost students hundreds of dollars and may discourage multiple applications. Fortunately, over the years, more colleges have begun participating in free application days, and most give waivers to students who qualify all year round.
 

What is Colorado Free Application Days?

Colorado Free Application Days is a three-day application period that allows Colorado Students to apply to all 32 public colleges and universities in Colorado and some private institutions for free.  The day changes each year, and this year, it falls on October 15-17. Leading up to these days, students are encouraged to work on their applications and then submit their applications within this time period to avoid fees and save money. 

Last year, the Colorado Department of Education reported that “students submitted nearly 65,000 College and University applications during the sixth annual state initiative.”  On January 18, 2024. Governor Jared Polis announced that students saved 2.8 million dollars in student fees.
