The Center for Diversity & Inclusion is excited to implement a new dialogue series titled Critical Conversations. Over the course of the Fall semester, students are invited to participate in a group dialogue to practice storytelling, critical reflection, and community building. The first Critical Conversations will take place on September 20 in the CDI and will center on the book for our Aims Read initiative, Tell Me who you are: A Road Map for Cultivating Racial Literacy by Winona Guo and Priya Vulchi. Prior to the event, students can pick up their copy of the Aims Reads book from 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. at the CDI.

Critical Conversations offers a  great introduction to the book and grapples with the call embedded within the title “Tell me who you are.” Our conversation will heed this call by asking students to respond to the following questions:

  • Where do I come from?
  • How do I relate to others?

If you have questions, please email cdi@aims.edu. Additional topics addressed this semester include menstrual equity and ageism specifically in a community college setting. More on this to come!
