‘Gemba’ is the place where value is created and improved. The Gemba Walk is the activity of walking work areas looking for waste (non-value added activities).  This develops the skill of seeing wasteful activities in daily work and then involving everyone who touches the process in implementing successful improvements.  The objective of Facility Layout is to design effective workflow(s) so that both equipment and workers are more productive. Many of the common eight wastes start with a poor facility layout. You will practice looking at your current facility layout, finding improvement opportunities and generating a new layout for better efficiency.
