During this event, we will focus on menstrual equity (M.E) as the guiding topic, and students can expect to build their own menstrual pack to take home or make a menstrual pack for someone you know (while supplies last).
Led by Peer Specialist Jackie Estrada, the topic of menstrual equity is important because everyone who menstruates deserves access to a safe and dignified menstruation experience and this is oftentimes taken for granted.
Jackie is interested in highlighting this topic because “growing up, I had the privilege of not worrying about whether or not I could afford my menstrual products, I also didn’t have to worry about how my physical ability would impact the health and hygiene of my menstruation experience, nor how the status of my gender identity could impact my experience as well.”
The goal of “Let’s Talk. Critical Conversations about Menstrual Equity (M.E)” is to bring awareness to menstrual equity and to start the conversation at Aims Community College. The question of access further guides the conversation about public space, the education provided for menstruation, the environmental impact of menstruation, and the forced sterilization of people with disabilities who menstruate.
The CDI is excited to welcome you to our space and engage in a thoughtful and engaging conversation.
