About this Event
5401 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634#pride
Pride celebrations across the country are significant occasions for the LGBTQ+ community to affirm their existence and honor their experiences. The CDI is excited to continue the Pride festivities into the month of July!
Annual Pride celebrations are the direct results of organizing and activist efforts, notably the 1969 Stonewall Riots and “Reminder Day Pickets” (1965-1969). Originally declared, “Christopher Street Liberation Day,” given that the Stonewall Inn is located on Christopher Street, organizers decided to celebrate what is now Pride to commemorate the Stonewall riots with the very first Pride celebration taking place in 1970 in New York City.
The CDI would like to celebrate Pride with an invitation to students, staff, and faculty to visit the CDI for what we’re calling Sip n’ Sweets! Join us on Wednesday, July 6th from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. just outside the Center for Diversity & Inclusion in the Student Commons Building for an array of sweets, water, and lemonade.
To learn more about Pride and the Stonewall Riots, the CDI suggests the following resources. Please note, this is not an exhaustive list and is intended to serve as a starting point.
We look forward to being in community with you!
