Dr. Michael Booker, Aims History Professor, to present: The 25 Ingredients of Fascism

Dr. Booker's speech examines the “25 ingredients of Fascism" by offering a framework for identifying the recurring social, political and psychological elements that gave rise to fascist authoritarian political movements in the 20th and early 21st centuries. This presentation will explore how fascism emerges from a volatile mix of nationalism, propaganda, scapegoating, anti-intellectualism and the personality cult of a seemingly infallible leader. Each of the 25 ingredients of fascism illustrates the mechanisms through which fascists manipulate fear, exploit identity & erode democratic institutions.
